JSS University, Philips to work on newer technologies

Speaking on the occasion, JSS University Vice Chancellor Dr B Suresh said that while the population is increasing in the country, there is a need to provide treatment at low cost in rural areas.

He said that the MoU is aimed at conducting research on a range of products including the  developing low-cost equipment as well as high-cost equipment necessary for advanced research.

Dr Suresh mentioned that nowadays, people from rural areas have to visit nearest cities in order to get access information pertaining to diseases.

He said that the research will be aimed at providing solutions such that the information can be sent directly from the village without the need of their physical presence. The MoU is also aimed at strengthening collaborative research activities between academia and industry for betterment of health services to the society.

The advancements and innovations in technology in the industrial sector would help the scientific research data provided by the academicians from the University and together would help create sophisticated health care to the common man, he added.

It would also contribute to diagnosis of various diseases at a much earlier stage to benefit early diagnosis and treatment.  The MoU was signed by JSS University Registrar Dr Mruthyunjaya P Kulenur, Dr Vishwanathan on Philips.

Dr Shyam Vasudevan, Dr Vishwanathan, Naveen Kulkarni  Dr Kushalappa, Director Academic, DrBalasubramanian and others were present.
