When Deccan Herald tried to find out about the new trend, it was shocked to know that these children are mere pawns for their parents.
A group of beggars who are camping behind the National College are sending their children to seek alms.
Involving children in beggary is a deprivation of their rights and also an offence. While the government has brought out many programmes to enable such students to come to school, the beggars seem to be oblivious to all of it.
Booked under law
According to A G Sudhakar, a senior advocate and member of Chikkaballapur Child Rights Committee such parents can be booked under law for pushing children into beggary.
He urged the authorities concerned to convince the parents to send their children to school.
