Bengaluru: Karnataka is among the leading states in providing employment as per the payroll data released by Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Madhumita Das, the Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor of the Union Labour Ministry, said on Friday.

“It is imperative on the state to take initiative in implementing the Pradhan Manthri-Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) and become the top state in delivering the benefits envisaged in the Yojana. We need to focus on the MSME sector, which has the potential to generate new employment and extend maximum benefits to new joinees and their employers,” said Das.

Das was chairing a meeting of bureaucrats in Bengaluru to discuss the implementation of the PM-VBRY/ Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme. 

The PM-VBRY/ELI scheme intends to generate over 3.5 crore employment opportunities over two years (from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2027).

Labour Secretary Rohini Sindhuri, Industries Secretary Dr Selvakumar, Labour Commissioner H N Gopalakrishna, EPFO's Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioner Anita Sinha Dixit and others were present in the meeting.
