Mangaluru: The Kadri Gopalnath Academy for Arts will organise the annual Kadri Sangeet Saurabh event on December 7, at Ambedkar Bhavan in Mangaluru.
This year, the Dr Kadri Gopalnath Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, the creator and player of the Mohan Veena, who is renowned worldwide and a recipient of the prestigious Grammy Award and the Padma Bhushan award from the Government of India.
Musical programmes will be held throughout the day, said music director, Dr Kadri Gopalnath Academy for Arts general secretary and Kadri Gopalnath's son Manikanth Kadri to media persons.
As in previous years, a Guru Vandana programme will be held from 10 am, featuring disciples of Dr Kadri Gopalnath along with upcoming artists. Musical tribute will be offered to Gana Kalabhushana, Mocharing Vidwan Dr L Bheemachar, and Mahadevappa Hullal, who were conferred Dr Kadri Gopalnath Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011 and passed during the year, said Manikanth.
He said that Dasa and Vachana by Mahalingappa Mahadeppa Hulyal and his team will be held. Carnatic classical music by Aneesh Bhatt and his team, saxophone by Kadri Gopalnath’s disciple Prashant Radhakrishnan from the USA and Hindustani classical music by Mahalakshmi Shenoy, a prominent disciple of Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt will be held.
After the stage programme in the evening, Mohan Veena and Satvik Veena jugalbandi by Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and Salil Bhatt, accompanied by Pandit Himanshu Mahant on tabla will be held, he added.
