Kadur Taluk Panchayat president Bharati Prahlad and member Jiganehalli Manju paid a surprise visit to post-matriculation hostels for girls run by the backward classes and minority department in Kadur on Wednesday and lambasted the hostel staff for not providing proper facilities.

The students at the hostel complained that the hostel staff do not respond to their problems and harass them if they raise their voices against “discrimination” in the hostel.

Bharati inspected the grocery items in the store room and found the worm-infested wheat in a bag.

The kitchen staff failed to give proper explanation. They were taken to task and directed to provide quality food to the students.

When Taluk Panchayat member Jiganehalli Manju spoke to Backward classes and minority welfare department taluk extension officer Nagavalli over phone and asked about the issues in the hostel, the official said she had not received any complaint from the hostel students.
