The announcement of celebrating Kanakadasa’s birthday was made in October, 2008. Following the announcement and subsequent orders issued, a government holiday has been declared at schools, colleges and government offices.
R G Nadadur, Principal Secretary, Primary and Secondary Education, said, “Holiday in view of Kanakadas Jayanthi was declared last year and it has been declared in the annual calendar of events for schools.”
