Addressing the media in Bangalore on Thursday, KDA Chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru said the initiative was taken on demand from the Kannadigas living overseas.

Those who are willing to spare time and teach the language will be identified in each of these countries and asked to impart the lessons, he said.

Chandru said he had discussed with the chief minister on the proposal by the Jawaharlal
Nehru University to set up a Kannada chair if the State government provided requisite funds. The KDA would felicitate 67 lower court and district judges for delivering judgments in Kannada on September 10.
