Zilla Panchayat President Sachitha Narendra said that Karakucchi drinking water project which was taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 6.30 crore will be completed within a month.
Speaking at the monthly ZP meeting on Tuesday, she said the work was taken up four years ago.
The issue was raised by Member K P Kumar and said that the project aims at supplying water to Karakucchi, Mudagodu, Kenchikoppa, Mallikoppa, Bavikere, Baragenahalli, Siddarahalli, Halasoor, Duglapura and Yarebailu.
The water tanks which was constructed at Malikoppa has bent and is on the verge of collapse. The tank built at Tandya has already been collapsed.
Member Ananth urged to provide complete details on the project. Changing the design of the project led to delay in completing the project.
The project may not complete even if additional Rs one crore is released to the complete the project, said the ZP members.
Member Kumar alleged that Rs 72 lakh has been paid to the contractor even before completing the work.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Shivashankar directed the Mescom engineers to complete the work in Tarikere taluk.
MLA Y C Vishwanath said that the Zilla Panchayat engineering division is not responding to the problems in Kadur taluk. The drought-hit taluk has been neglected.
No development work is being carried out for the last eight month. The Executive engineer promised to look into the progress of Karakucchi drinking water project within a week.
