Mangaluru: In an unfortunate incident, three friends working in Bengaluru drowned in sea near Kulai jetty in Karnataka's Surathkal on Wednesday.

According to the police, four friends, who had studied in the same engineering college and were working in Bengaluru had driven to the seaside town for vacation. They had left Bengaluru on January 7 in a car and reached the city on Wednesday.

They ventured into the water and started drowning. Of the four, one was rescued by the locals. All four people did not know how to swim, cops said.

The deceased have been identified as one Manjunath (30) from Chitradurga, Shivakumar (30) from Shivamogga and Satyavelu (30) from Bengaluru. The rescued is Parameshwara from Bidar.

All three bodies have been retrieved by divers, cops said.
