Kushalnagar: Body of a newborn was found discarded in a coffee plantation in Kattehadi in the taluk on Thursday.

The body was found in the plantation near Kattehadi Community Hall.

The local residents observed dogs tearing the body of the newborn female child and raised an alarm.

It is suspected that the mother of the child might have abandoned the child.

District Health Officer Dr Satish, taluk medical officer Indudhar, Kushalhnagar circle Inspector Dinesh Kumar and Rural Police SHO Swamy visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The body was taken to the Community Health Centre and after a procedure, was buried.

A case has been registered by Kushalnagar rural police.
