Bantwal: Body of a CMC member from Puttur was found in Nethravathi river in Panemangaluru near Bantwal on Thursday.
The deceased is identified as Ramesh Rai Nellikatte, a BJP member of City Municipal Council, Puttur, the police said.
A motorbike, mobile phone, a shirt and sandals were found near the Panemangaluru old bridge in the morning.
Local diving experts and fire and emergency service personnel conducted a search operation and recovered the body.
Ramesh Rai had recently won during the bi-election held towards the vacant seat of Puttur CMC.
BJP leaders Sanjiv Mathandoor and Arun Kumar Puttila visited the spot.
