Kalaburagi: The state government will soon fill around 6,000 permanent and contractual vacancies in the forest department for effective wildlife conservation, Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre has said.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Khandre said that a total of 341 vacancies have been filled and the process is underway for recruitment to another 540 posts. Pointing out that the non-payment of salaries to forest guards working on contract basis has been taken seriously, he said that the strict direction has been given to pay salaries to them by the fifth of every month.
