New Delhi: Sindhoora Raja, 11th standard student from Karnataka, has bagged Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar for creating self-stabilising devices for Parkinson's patients.

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday presented the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 17 children including Raja, recognising their exceptional courage and outstanding achievements across diverse fields, including art, culture, sports and innovation.

Raja’s -15-year-old-innovative contributions including self stabilising devices for Parkinson's patients and affordable prosthetics, showcase her dedication to improving lives through technology, said a statement from the Ministry of Women and Children Development.

“She has participated in Top 100 teams at Atal Tinkering Laboratory (ATL) Marathon, Atal Innovation Mission flagship innovation programme (2022-23).

Her international accolades and prestigious fellowships underscore her outstanding impact in healthcare and innovation. Her innovative contributions have impacted the life of a large number of people in distress,” said the statement.

Native of Ullal in Dakshina Kannada, Raja is currently studying at 11th standard in National Public School at Indiranagar in Bengaluru.

She also participated in the World Science Scholars (WSS) festival, which will be held in New York from May this year.

She also won the main prize at the Future Port Awards hosted by Future Port Youth in Prague, Czech Republic. She also represented India at Codeavour 5.0, an international AI and robotics competition held in Dubai. A recipient of the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Ignited Mind Award and a bronze medalist at the International

Mathematics Championship, Sindhoora has conceptualised several AI tools and science models.
