Bengaluru: The state government on Thursday approved Rs 880.68 crore for procurement of 890 drugs, tablets and chemicals for the year 2025-2026.
Among the 890 drugs, 539 are essential drugs and 351 are desirable drugs. This list includes 568 existing drugs and 322 newly introduced drugs, aligned with emerging clinical needs and in adherence to Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) and National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM).
Special support Hemophilia care is to ensure timely availability of life-saving treatment and continuous care. The department is procuring seven anti-haemophilia drugs at an estimated cost of Rs 42.5 crore.
Customization of drugs for facility-level are those that have been tailored according to the healthcare facility, including the new drugs. Primary health Centers (PHCs) will be provided with 384 drugs. Community Health Centers (CHCs) with 657 drugs. Taluk-Level Hospitals (TLHs) with 872 drugs and District-Level Hospitals with 883 drugs.
The revised drug list is expected to reduce the financial burden on patients by ensuring the availability of affordable medicines within the public healthcare system.
