Bengaluru: With heavy rains battering Bengaluru, the state government has set up a consultative committee under Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to address the various civic issues faced by tech companies.

The committee, which will have at least eight members and three invitees, will address the issues and concerns faced by tech parks located in Electronics, Whitefield, Nagavara (Manyata Embassy Business Park) and other areas, according to a government order issued on October 15. 

The committee's members will be the Minister for Electronics, Information Technology/Biotechnology, Science and Technology (Vice-Chairman); KEONICS Chairman; the Additional Chief Secretary of the Urban Development Department; Bengaluru City Police Commissioner; BBMP Chief Commissioner; the Secretary of the Department of Electronics, Information Technology/Biotechnology, Science and Technology; the Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister; Mahadevapura Zone Chief Engineer (Member Secretary); and other officials nominated by the committee/deputy chief minister. 

The chairpersons of the vision groups on IT, biotechnology and startups will be invitees. 

Priyank Kharge, the Minister for Electronics, Information Technology/Biotechnology, Science and Technology, said that the government was "extremely mindful" of the serious impact the incessant rains had had on the operations of various significant industry stakeholders. 

"We shall be reaching out to the industries, corporates, industry associations, business park associations and citizen groups to discuss, evaluate and implement immediate, short-term and long-term solutions to strengthen our infrastructure," he tweeted on Wednesday.
