Gadag: A pot full of gold ornaments was discovered while digging the earth to lay the foundation for a house at Ward Number 4 in the historic Lakkundi village of Gadag district.

The construction workers stumbled upon a copper pot filled with gold ornaments, buried five to six feet under, while digging was underway for the foundation for a house on land owned by Gangavva Basavaraj Ritti.

Lakkundi Heritage Area Development Authority commissioner Sharanu Gogeri told DH, "A copper pot containing around half kg gold ornaments, including chain, ring and bangle, was discovered at a plot during the construction work. We have informed the ASI officials about the discovery of hidden treasure. We will get to know the historical significance after the examination of the ornaments by the experts."
