Mangaluru: An RPF constable on duty at Mangaluru Central Railway Station was allegedly assaulted by a man on Thursday night after being questioned for not possessing a valid platform ticket.
Mangaluru South police have arrested Shamsudheen (58) from Cherukunnu in Kannur district in connection with the incident.
According to the complaint filed by constable Prakash Babu HC, he was on second-shift duty between 10 pm and 10:30 pm when he noticed a person loitering on the platform without a ticket.
When the constable instructed the individual to leave the premises, the latter allegedly behaved inappropriately, abused the officer, and refused to comply. The accused allegedly shouted at the constable with foul language. As the constable attempted to take him out of the platform, the man resisted and issued life threats.
The complaint further stated that the accused attacked the constable with a sharp blade-like object causing an injury. The constable’s colleagues, who rushed to the spot upon hearing his cries, immediately shifted him to Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru, where he is undergoing treatment. A case has been registered under sections 109,118(1),351(2),121(1),351(3),132 and 352 of BNS.
