Bengaluru: The ruling Congress has put on hold the list of four persons who were shortlisted for nomination as Legislative Council members amid discord within the party over the choices.
Initially, it was said that the government had sent the names of Dalit activist DG Sagar, journalist Dinesh Amin Mattu, Congress’ communications chief Ramesh Babu and Karnataka NRI Forum deputy chairperson Arathi Krishna to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot.
Sources now clarified that the list of names were approved by the Congress high command but had not been sent to Raj Bhavan. Meanwhile, opposition grew within Congress over the four names. Some have argued that deserving party workers should have been picked.
