As against the Union government's norm of 1,259 PHCs, the state currently had 2,310 and some of the 8,870 sub-centres faced patient scarcity while some others staff shortage, Acharya told reporters here after a cabinet meeting.
The government also decided to relocate some of the PHCs and sub-centres to places where there was a need for them, Acharya said, adding, no new PHC or sub-centre would be opened in the next three years.
A bill to govern transfer of doctors and para-medical staff in the state would be introduced in the coming legislature session.
The cabinet approved a draft bill to regulate exploitation of underground water which would also be introduced in the coming session, Acharya said.
It also decided to establish a Rs 51.12 crore milk processing unit at Chikkaballapur with a capacity of about three lakh litres, he added.
