Haveri: The Lokayukta police caught the headmaster of a Karnataka Public School red-handed while he was accepting a bribe to provide admission to a student in the school, in the district.

Akbar, a resident Savanur, had lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta alleging that Manjunath Kallappa Katenahalli, Headmaster of Karnataka Public School had demanded bribe for admitting former’s son at the school.

On May 16, Akbar had met Manjunath and sought admission for his son in the school. Initially, Manjunath demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000. However, when Akbar expressed his inability to pay the money, the HM settled for a sum of Rs 10,000 and also took an advance of Rs 5,000.

Akbar approached Lokayukta, who laid a trap to nab Manjunath.

On May 17, Manjunath had asked Akbar to come to his flat at Savanur to pay the balance bribe money. Lokayukta police raided the flat and nabbed Manjunath while receiving the bribe amount.
