Putting an end to the confusion over closing down the schools and colleges and promoting students without examinations, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday, saying "there is no such proposal before the government".

Addressing the media after a detailed meeting with experts from the State Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 where senior ministers and officials of various departments were present, the chief minister said there was no proposal before the government to promote students up to class 9. "The examinations will be held as per the schedule," he said.

The chief minister added that the examinations scheduled for up to class 9 will be completed in the next 15 days and there was no question of closing down the schools and colleges. "There is no discussion about closing down schools and colleges. Instead, the institutions have been asked to follow the safety measures strictly while conducting offline classes and examinations," he said.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Sunday spoke about the promotion of all students up to class 9, which created confusion among parents, students and school managements.

The private school managements association requested the minister not to give such statements about the department which does not come under his portfolio and requested the government to allow schools to conduct exams and declare summer vacation.

The chief minister said that the state government will write to the Union government requesting to vaccinate teachers on a priority basis and consider them as corona warriors.
