Bengaluru: The 2025 SSLC examination marked a milestone for the Right to Education (RTE) Act in Karnataka - this was the first batch of students enrolled in schools across the state under the RTE quota to appear for the crucial test.
Of the 25,453 RTE students who appeared for the SSLC exams this year, 19,235 75.57% - cleared the examination. Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa pointed out that two RTE students had emerged toppers, securing 625 out of 625.
The results for RTE students was consistent with the state-wide trend, with girls outperforming boys in this category as well. While 10,378 girls cleared the exam, the figure was 8,857 for boys. Bengaluru South boasted the highest number of RTE students who wrote the SSLC exam this year, with 2,164, followed by Bengaluru North (1,769).
When the RTE Act was rolled out in Karnataka in 2012-13, 80,000 students were admitted to private schools across the state, including those affiliated to CBSE and ICSE.
