Mangaluru: A teenager from Mumbai drowned while another is allegedly went missing at NITK Beach, Surathkal, on Tuesday. As per the preliminary information, the deceased is Dhyan Banjan ( 18) and the missing is 15-year-old boy, also from Mumbai.
Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said that about 10 persons from the family of Prakyath, a resident of Soorinje, visited the NITK Beach. While enjoying the water, Dhyan drowned, while the minor boy went missing.
A lifeguard present at the spot managed to rescue Dhyan and immediately shifted him to a private hospital for medical assistance. Unfortunately, he was declared dead at the hospital. However, the minor is still missing in the sea. Search operations are being carried out with the help of local police, fire and emergency services, and lifeguards. A case is being registered at the Surathkal police station.
