Soil collapsed due to a landslide near Maranahalli, on national highway, in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district, on Wednesday night.

Hassan: The Shiradi Ghat was temporarily closed for vehicular movement due to landslides on the route near Maranahalli, in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district, on Wednesday night. However, the route was cleared for traffic after 10 hours and the vehicles stuck on the route were allowed to ply on Thursday morning.

Due to a landslide on Wednesday night, the vehicles plying between Bengaluru and Mangaluru were diverted via Belur-Charmadi Ghat from Hassan, as per the directions of the Deputy Commissioner.

However, the vehicular movement resumed after ten hours giving reprieve for the vehicle users, who were stuck in the traffic. The soil that collapsed on the road was removed. The traffic movement resumed slowly, on Thursday around 11 am. The DC has advised the people to choose Charmadi Ghat route, until the situation improves.

The officials cleared the vehicles stuck in traffic as a large number of vehicles had lined up on the route.
