Karnataka: Wild Elephant trapped in 60 foot canal; rescued by 100-member team

A 12-year-old elephant was rescued by the forest department after being trapped in a canal for three days. A crane was brought in from Bengaluru, more than 100 kms away, to carry out the rescue. The tusker was sedated, treated and released back into the forest. The operation lasted 4 hours.
