Hukkeri (Belagavi dist): A youth on his way to work along with a friend on a motorcycle was hacked to death with a machete and rod allegedly by his relatives over property dispute. The murder was committed in broad daylight on a busy road in a market area in the town on Monday.

The person murdered was Meerasab Hussainsab Jamkhandi (28), a resident of Avargol village in Hukkeri taluk. Meerasab along with his friend Sachin Basavaraj Hugar was on his way to work towards Belagavi. His step-brother Shanul Hussainsab Jamkhandi allegedly attacked Meerasab on head from behind. When he fell off the motorcycle, Shanul’s uncle Bashir Sikandar allegdly attacked Meerasab with a machete on his head, face and abdomen, and he died on the spot.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a long-pending dispute over property in the family led to the murder. Both accused have been arrested by the police.
