Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, KDA Chairman Mukyamantri Chandru said there was provision in the constitution to adopt the regional language as the official language of high courts.

The procedure involved seeking the court’s opinion, followed by passing of  resolutions in both houses of legislature before sending it to the President for assent. He said delivering judgements in Kannada would help litigants.

The KDA would felicitate 66 judges and magistrates of lower courts on November 13 in recognition of their efforts to deliver judgements in Kannada, Chandru said.

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa will felicitate the judges and magistrates at the function scheduled to be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra.
