Meena from Palibetta is said to have tried to get the subsidy by submitting fake documents. Meanwhile, Department of Agriculture too has paid a sum of Rs 27,250 to the company but the beneficiary has not paid her share of Rs 27,250 to the company yet.
According to the stock book of the office of the Virajpet Assistant Agriculture Director, the tiller has not been handed over to the beneficiary. Now the beneficiary has informed the office over the telephone that she does not want the tiller. The company which supplies tiller has said that they are ready to give the tiller to any beneficiary who pays the remaining amount under the scheme, thereby clarifying that the subsidy amount will not be returned. ZP Vice-President Anitha Kanjithanda said that the company is also at fault because the company was aware that the beneficiary had submitted fake certificate. There are possibilities of many such instances where the company and the beneficiary would have had joined hands to gobble government funds.
ZP President V M Vijaya said that action will be taken against Agriculture Department officials too who had a role to play in this. Action will be initiated against the company as well. “Agriculture Department has been directed not to provide any subsidy to the company in future,” Vijaya said.
