The Kodava Samaja in the city has swung into action to help distressed people in the flood-affected hill district of Kodagu.
The Kodava Samaja workers are collecting relief materials to be dispatched to flood-hit areas in the district.
On Friday, four batches of relief materials which included biscuits, milk powder, mineral
water bottles, blankets, steel plates, diapers, mosquito coils, first aid kits, medicines, towels and sanitary napkins were dispatched.
“We are coordinating with volunteers in Kodagu for the supply of relief materials to the needy,” Kishoo Uthappa, a volunteer involved in helping the rain victims, told DH.

“People in Kodagu are in distress due to floods. The hill district is experiencing such a devastation for the first time. Our relatives there are narrating their ordeal due to rain havoc. We’ve decided to extend a helping hand to every affected person there, Niran Somanna, one of the volunteers said.
Niran Somanna, a native of Kodagu having business in the city, took a day’s off from his business and engaged himself in the work.
Chennapanda K Subbaiah, Secretary, Kodava Samaja said: “Bengalureans are coming forward to help flood victims in Kodagu. Many companies have donated their products for the rain victims.”
“We’ve dispatched the relief materials to Madikeri, Gonikoppa, and Kushalnagar,” he added. Kodava Samaja Bengaluru and Mysuru have initiated Donate Kodagu, a drive to collect relief materials.
Materials may be packed and dropped at Bengaluru Kodava Samaja, Vasanthnagar, and Mysuru Kodava Samaja, Vijayanagar, Mysuru.
The Samaja has requested against sending used goods.
Aid for Kerala
The Malayalee community and various non-governmental organisations (NGO) in
the city are collecting essentials to flood victims in Kerala.
Centres have been set up at Sankara eye hospital, Varthur Main Road, Avohi, Koramangala, Confederation of Indian Industry, HAL 2nd stage, Tanzeb, Domlur and Keli Cultural Association, Budigere Cross, to collect relief materials.
