Belagavi: Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar demanded that Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) give compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the stampede during RCB's IPL victory celebrations at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Hebbalkar told reporters here on Friday that the death of the people in the stampede has hurt her. KSCA and RCB should come forward and give more compensation for the next kin of the deceased. Its unfortunate that 11 persons lost their lives in the stampede, she said.

She alleged that opposition parties were misguiding the people over the incident and Congress leaders will reply to them. Instead of politics, we need to understand why the incident took place, she added.
