KSOU to join hands with varsities for JOCs

The KSOU would soon enter into an agreement with different universities in this regard.

Disclosing this to media persons here on Thursday, KSOU Vice-Chancellor B A Vivek Rai said some of the universities have already shown good response for the proposal, while the other universities are yet to respond. The V-C revealed that the KSOU has already entered into an agreement with Bangalore University and University of Agriculture Sciences, Bangalore, and the courses will start soon.

Prof Rai said the KSOU will have control over admission, rules, regulations and examinations, while the respective universities will have control over the curriculum.

The syllabus for the subjects in which certificate courses will be offered will be framed by the respective universities.

The V-C said there were 13 Open Universities in the country functioning under a statutory body Distance Education Council (DEC). All the Open Universities have come together to form a federation to ponder over future and development of higher education through distance education.
