With the introduction of the Volvo City buses, Mangalore becomes the third city in the State to have low-floor air-conditioned Volvo City buses.
“These buses, modelled on the lines of the Vayu Vajra buses in Bangalore, are already in operation in Mysore City, connecting major destinations like Srirangapatna, Nanjangud, BEML Nagar, Infosys Campus, Chamundi Hills and Ilawala around Mysore,” stated a release from KSRTC.
The new buses being introduced in Mangalore, would run initially with one hour frequency and later on, based on response, with a higher frequency. There is also a proposal to start Mangalore-Kasargod a/c City Volvo service as well, according to KSRTC officials.
The stops enroute are: Mangalore, Surathkal, Mulky, Padubidri, Udupi and Manipal for which the fares vary from Rs 10 to 60.
