The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) is all set to start air services in Karnataka, to keep up pace with Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Goa.

Arvind Jadhav, additional chief secretary, tourism, said air services had also been given way in the budget. KSTDC will also appoint a transaction advisor for the same.

“So far, we have received proposals from Supreme Aviation and UTA- helicopter service providers. Jakkur Aerodrome has also placed a proposal to run a four-seater aircraft. But we have asked for some more details on their business model,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of the tourism rating facility on Friday.

There are many people who give Karnataka a miss because of lack of air services. Kerala and Tamil Nadu have four international airports. They are all well-connected by air. Goa had started their services from chartered flights.

“Presently, we want to start services in Mysuru and Hampi because air strips are ready. Later, depending on the demand provision of air strips, trips can be developed,” Jadhav said.
