Bengaluru: The Congress party on Monday called on the Justice John Michael Cunha-headed one person commission probing the M Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede to initiate action against the BJP and JD(S), accusing the opposition parties of spreading misinformation about the state government on social media portals.
In his letter to Justice Cunha, Congress general secretary S Manohar pointed to the ‘provocative material’ posted on the official social media accounts of both the BJP and JD(S), claiming that such content was being shared with the aim of disrupting law and order.
The letter also sought to know as to why no action had been initiated against International Cricket Council chairman Jay Shah, and opined that the ICC and the Board of Control for Cricket in India must bear responsibility for the stampede.
The letter added that the Congress had already raised a complaint against the BJP and JD(S) with the Karnataka DGP.
