Davangere: Taking a swipe at the BJP over its 'double standards' on the ban of cow slaughter and cow vigilantism, Labour Minister Santosh Lad dared the BJP government to ban beef export.

Lad told reporters on Sunday, "Under BJP government, India has emerged as a leading exporter of beef. There is a BJP government in 20 states. UP is the leading producer of beef in the country even as its CM Yogi Adityanath keeps chanting Gau Mata mantra. While BJP leaders criticise the scheme to feed chicken to stray dogs, they should also talk about beef export".

Lad said, "The Centre has meted out injustice to non-BJP ruled states in grants under Khelo India. It has given Rs 600 crore and Rs 400 crore to Gujarat and UP, respectively. There is not a single example of an athlete winning an Olympic medal from these states. Punjab and Haryana which have produced highest medal-winning athletes have got less. Tamil Nadu has got only Rs 43 crore under Khelo India. We cannot tolerate such discrimination," he said.
