Leaders across the political spectrum condoled the death of former chief minister N Dharam Singh.
KPCC president G Parameshwara in his message said Singh had no enemies in his long political and public life. “Beginning his public life as a fighter for the rights of the working class, he imbibed in himself progressive and secular values,” he stated.
Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda recalled that Singh led the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the state. Gowda said Singh was large hearted and was loved by all.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said Singh’s death is a great loss to the state and the Congress party. He recalled his association with him during Singh’s tenure as chief minister during 2004-06, when he worked as the deputy chief minister.
BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa stated that the mild-mannered and soft-spoken Dharam Singh has left an indelible impression in the political history of Karnataka by his genuine commitment to the welfare of all sections of people.
