Chamarajanagar: A leopard’s carcass was found at a stone quarry near Terakanambi of Biligiri Ranganatha Tiger (BRT) Wildlife division, in Chamarajanagar range, on Thursday, raising suspicions of poisoning.
According to Forest department personnel, the male leopard is around five to six years old. Prima facie it looks like the leopard had been poisoned to death, as the carcass of a dog and a calf were found near it. A case has been registered and a probe initiated, they said. Senior officials visited the spot.
It may be mentioned that five tigers were poisoned to death at Malai Mahadeshwara Wildlife Sanctuary limits recently.
