Nanjangud (Mysuru dist): A leopard, caught in a snare, laid to poach wild boar, succumbed to the injuries at Rampura village, Nanjangud taluk, Mysuru district, on Saturday.
A four-year-old leopardess was caught in a snare that was laid to poach a wild animal, on a farmland belonging to Mahesh of Yedehalli on Friday night.
The farmers, who noticed this, alerted the Forest department personnel on Saturday morning.
The department personnel rushed to the spot, tranquilised the animal and shifted it to a hospital in Nanjangud. Veterinarian Dr Mujeeb provided treatment, but it succumbed. The department has registered a case under Wildlife Protection Act.
