Nayakanahatti (Chitradurga district): The security personnel at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), spotted two leopards at Nayakanahatti campus late Friday night.

According to the local shepherds, at least four leopards are prowling in and around the campuses of the premier agencies, spread over 10,000 acres. Both the DRDO and IISc have planted over 50,000 trees within their campus. The sprawling green cover, which houses hundreds of deer, rabbits and other wild animals, has offered the big cats food and safety.

Interestingly, not a single incident of leopards attacking staff, shepherds or farmers was reported so far. The video clips of leopards, captured on mobile phones by the DRDO watchtower staff on Friday, have gone viral on social media platforms.
