Police said that Suresh, the accused, was unemployed, and a drunkard. His wife Manjula, a native of Chennapatna, was managing the household with her wages. On Friday night, Suresh demanded Manjula to give him some money. Manjula is said to have berated him for asking her for money. An irked Suresh allegedly stabbed her, leaving her grievously injured.
Manjula has been admitted to a hospital. Her condition is stated to be critical. Police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Suresh.
