Mangaluru: While inaugurating the seventh edition of Mangaluru Lit Fest writer S L Bhyrappa said let the festival inspire new generations and engage young minds in thinking about national interest.

Organised by Bharat Foundation at TMA Pai Convention Centre, he said “I believe that this annual literary festival reaches its goal while preserving novelty. Reaching the targeted goal is important in a literature festival. If we fail to reach the target, it will become mechanical. The literary festival should offer something new to the society every year.

“Dakshina Kannada is known for the hospitality, education and medical sector and is a model for the country.

The district has produced not only great teachers and doctors but also well -known writers like Karanth, Panje Mangesh Rao, Manjeshwara Govinda Pai, Sediyapu Krishna Bhat, Vyasaraya Ballal.

"While writing his works, Karanth had given priority to the nation's interest and had returned Padmabhushan in protest against the Emergency."

The Mythic Society Honorary Secretary S Ravi said that the Lit fest is unique as it has activities related to children, youth and art. It discusses nationalism and “Indianess.” The Mystic Society has been supporting Mangaluru Lit Fest since the beginning.

Through “Akshara Bhandara,” a software by The Mythic Society helps people learn about ancient Kannada letters, inscriptions, and history. The Society has been studying inscriptions and has taken up Inscriptions 3D Digital Conservation Project, he added.
