Mangaluru: Karnataka Lokayukta Justice BS Patil paid a surprise visit and conducted an inspection of the lake in Guruvayanakere, Kuvettu village, Belthangady taluk.
Following complaints to the Lokayukta regarding the mismanagement and encroachment of the lake, Justice B S Patil, accompanied by Kuvettu Panchayat officials, Taluk Panchayat officials, and the Tahsildar, conducted a surprise inspection.
Observing the surroundings of the lake, he expressed dissatisfaction with the officials. He instructed them to construct a corridor around the lake and take appropriate measures.
Additionally, he directed the Belthangady Tahsildar to conduct a survey on the encroachment within 10 days and submit a report.
Lokayukta also visited Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy temple and offered special pooja.
During the Lokayukta's visit, Mangaluru Lokayukta Division SP Nataraj MA, Inspector Amanulla, Suresh, Belthangady Tahsildar Prithvi Sanikam, Belthangady Taluk Panchayat EO Bhavani Shankar, Kuvettu Gram Panchayat PDO Imtiyaz, Revenue Inspector Prateesh, Village Administrative Officer Gowthami, and other officials were present.
