Lokayukta police trapped an assistant engineer attached to the Mysore City Corporation (MCC), while he was allegedly receiving a bribe to provide licence for construction of a house.

The accused has been identified as Ravindra, working at MCC zonal office nine.

Purushottam, son of Yogamma, residing at Giriyabovipalya, had plans to build a house at Teachers’ Layout in the city. Purushottam is said to have asked Ravindra to provide permission. However, Ravindra demanded Rs 2,000 as bribe initially and later settled for Rs 1,000.

Following this, Purushottam complained to the Lokayukta police about the demand.

However, Ravindra didn’t accept the bribe directly.

He asked one Basavaraju to collect the money from Purushottam.

Lokayukta police led by DySP Jayaram and inspector Dharmendra arrested Basavaraju, when he was receiving the bribe money.
