Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to look into the reports of discrepancies in recommending allocation of iron ore mining leases to certain companies.

Kagodu is understood to have urged the chief minister after receiving a complaint from some iron and steel manufacturing companies in this regard recently. The Speaker has forwarded the complaint to the chief minister to take appropriate action, sources said.
‘Favoured companies’

Iron and steel manufacturers had complained that the State government officials had favoured some companies by recommending them for granting leases under the pretext of following the Supreme Court guidelines.
The government will incur heavy revenue loss if the discrepancies were not set right, they had warned.

The Speaker was not available for comments.
