Lord Ayyappa devotee injured in elephant attack in Karnataka Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim had been to a stream to wash clothes when he was attacked by the elephant.

Mangaluru: A 28-year-old Lord Ayyappa devotee suffered injuries in an elephant attack at Kalmakar village in Sullia on Tuesday morning.

The injured is Charith. 

Subrahmanya Range Forest Officer Vimal Babu said that the incident took place between 6:30 am and 6:45 am.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim, a Lord Ayyappa devotee, had been to a stream to wash clothes when he was attacked by the elephant. There is a reserve forest on the other side of the stream.

The elephant had come from Kalmakar region and was crossing the stream to move towards the reserve forest when the incident occurred. 

After providing first aid at Sullia Government Hospital, the injured person was shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.

Charith has suffered head injury and has been complaining of back pain. 

The doctors have suggested a CT scan, X-ray, and other tests.
