New Delhi: The Centre has never said that it won’t grant approval for the Mahadayi project, Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi clarified on Friday.
“The statement of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s in the state Assembly that the Centre will not grant permission for the Mahadayi project, is his personal opinion. The Centre never said that the permission would not be given to the project,” Pralhad Joshi said here.
‘No politics on water’
Insisting that none should make politics on drinking water issue, Joshi said that all states are treated equally by the Centre and it would never do injustice to
Karnataka.
“The Centre is always supportive to all the states when it comes to the implementation of drinking water projects. In the Mahadayi issue also, the Centre would take the right decision which would be acceptable to all the states,” the union minister said.
Pralhad Joshi also that stated he would meet Jal Shakti Minister
C R Patil soon and would apprise him of the importance of the Mahadayi project to provide drinking water to the districts of Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad, Gadag and Bagalkot.
