Shivamogga: School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa has said that the commencement of the schools for the academic year 2025-26 should be made festive and that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will launch the programme ‘Two Years: Joy ​​in Education’ in this connection in Bengaluru on May 29.

He told reporters on Saturday that teachers, School Development and Monitoring Committee members, parents and citizens in all schools in the state should welcome children in a special way as if they are welcoming distinguished guests.

Children should be given sweets in the mid-day meal in government schools on the first day, he said.

“We have allowed students to write three major exams (both in SSLC and second PUC). The results have been good. We have taken steps to provide eggs six days a week. As promised, we are appointing 51,000 teachers from the beginning of this academic year,” he said. 

The minister said, “As promised, we are giving Rs 2,000 extra to teachers monthly and many new changes have been implemented in the Education Department.”
