New Delhi:  Leader of Opposition R Ashoka on Tuesday said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s biggest achievement is making the state bankrupt and lawless.

Reacting to Siddaramaiah equalling the record of late leader Devaraj Urs as the longest-serving CM, Ashoka said instead of boasting about breaking the record, what Siddaramaiah has achieved as CM, is more important.

“The state has become bankrupt and the financial situation is in poor condition. Borrowings have increased and the state is struggling to pay salaries. Law and order has totally collapsed, for which the latest violence in Ballari is the best example. Incidents of crime and atrocities against women have increased. These are his biggest achievements,” he said.

“Instead of how many days one rules the state, what is achieved as CM should be more important. Siddaramaiah must introspect about his achievements as CM,” Ashoka said.

To a question on the BJP holding a Bengaluru-to-Ballari padyatra condemning the violence, he said the party was yet to take a call on this.

Ashoka said he met BJP national president J P Nadda and working president Nitin Nabin and explained to them the current political situation in Karnataka. He said the top leaders gave suggestions, which would be discussed with state leaders.

Nabin is likely to visit Karnataka next month and will hold a meeting with the state leaders, Ashoka said.
