Meghalaya officer visits hospital

Malavalli (Mandya dist): Around 40 students, who took ill after consuming food at an educational institution in Malavalli, are undergoing treatment at Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS). They are stable and are recovering, according to the authorities. Two students - Krishen Lyang (13) and Namib Manthe (12) - have succumbed to the illness, so far.
On Tuesday, Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumara, along with Cyril V Diengdoh, Commissioner and Secretary, General Administration department, Government of Meghalaya, visited MIMS and inquired about the health of the students and gathered information from the doctors.
Commissioner Cyril said, “The students are recovering. Four of them are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU). Mandya district administration and doctors are ensuring that the students are provided necessary treatment. ”
“As directed by the Meghalaya Chief Minister, we have visited Mandya and gathered all information about the ailing students. Meghalaya government will provide a compensation to the deceased students’ family. Two students have died, which is unfortunate. The students had come here for education purposes.”
