Addressing reporters, Shivashankarappa said Mallikarjun had expressed his willingness to contest and that the latter would win the election.
MLA Shamanur Shivashankarappa announced on Sunday that his son and former minister, S S Mallikarjun, would contest the Lok Sabha elections from the Davangere seat as the candidate of the Congress-JD(S) coalition.
Addressing reporters here, Shivashankarappa said Mallikarjun had expressed his willingness to contest and that the latter would win the election.
Shivashankarappa expressed confidence that the Congress would win the Lok Sabha elections, despite the increase in the ratings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by 10% in the aftermath of the airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan.
